Bridget Gregory (Linda Fiorentino) seems to have it all: beauty intelligence and a marriage to Clay a wealthy physician (Bill Pullman). But everything isn't enough for Bridget who persuades her husband to make dirty deals on prescription drugs and then runs with the profit. Now incognito in a mid-American small town. Bridget draws a naive local Mike Swale (Peter Berg) into a smoldering affair.Passion greed and revenge forge a desperate triangle between the three as Bridget draws her unknowing victims deeper into her deadly web of deceit. System Requirements:Running Time: 110 MinFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre: MYSTERY/SUSPENSE Rating: R UPC: 012236132172 Manufacturer No: 13217Whew. Linda Fiorentino is li! ke a home-grown apocalyptic nightmare as the sizzling, sexy dame who thinks "sharing" is a dirty word. Fiorentino, a master of the double-cross, hooks up with naive Peter Berg, a nice guy desperate for a little adventure. There are endless twists to this cleverly vicious story, but the real draw is Fiorentino, whose performance is brilliant. She is the Everywoman you never want to meet: cool as ice, passionate, tough, self-satisfied, smart, and amoral. Bill Pullman is a surprise as a Machiavellian doctor who is almost her match. Definitely not a date flick, as this represents one vicious battle in the sexual wars. --Rochelle O'Gorman GOTCHA - DVD MovieBefore he started losing his hair (which gave his baby face the maturity it needed for him to be taken seriously as a doctor on E.R.), Anthony Edwards was the quintessential juvenile lead, college division. That is what he plays here: a college kid who is campus champ at an assassination game called Gotcha (that! uses fake guns). Then he goes on a summer vacation behind the! Iron Cu rtain (before it came tumbling down) and falls for a female operative (Linda Fiorentino), who not only uses him as an unsuspecting courier for spy stuff but makes him a fall guy, as well. When he finally extricates himself from the trouble, the trouble follows him back to campus. Silly and far-fetched, though Edwards has that wounded-puppy look down perfectly. --Marshall FineWhew. Linda Fiorentino is like a home-grown apocalyptic nightmare as the sizzling, sexy dame who thinks "sharing" is a dirty word. Definitely not a date flick, as this repr! esents one vicious battle in the sexual wars. --Rochelle O'Gorman Neither director William Friedkin nor star David Caruso could redeem this vulgar, nasty script by Joe Eszterhas. Caruso is a politically ambitious assistant D.A. investigating the gruesome murder of a San Francisco bigwig. Too many clues point in the direction of his former girlfriend (Linda Fiorentino), a shrink who has a secret sideline as call girl to the rich and kinky. For good measure, she's now married to Caruso's best friend, Chazz Palminteri. Friedkin has done much better work in other places; even he can't perform much magic here, though he tries, with a solid car chase (that suffers in comparison to those he staged in French Connection and To Live and Die in L.A.). --Marshall FineVision Quest is a coming of age movie in which high school wrestler Louden Swain (Matthew Modine) decides he wants to be something more than an average high school athlete and sets his sights on! a prize that many don't think he can win -- he then sets out ! to reach his goal alone, without much support from his father or coach. His father rents a room to a young drifter, Carla (Linda Fiorentino). Swain falls in love with her and she helps him stay focused and prevents him from losing sight of his goals. Although a lower-budget film than Flashdance or Top Gun, this movie is similar in theme and style. Madonna makes her first appearance in a major motion picture as a lead singer in a local band performing her hit songs "Crazy For You" and "Gambler".This film wraps up the big wrestling match that Terry Davis's novel left unresolved. It also makes Carla (Linda Fiorentino, in her screen debut) less of a bad girl. What it does capture is the book's flowing feeling of power and the possibility of youth. Probably best known for presenting a just-emerging Madonna singing "Crazy for You," Vision Quest also uses Matthew Modine nicely. He doesn't typify the usual coming-of-age youth, but his character, Louden Swain, isn't the typical youth,! period. Swain needs to win the Washington State wrestling championship, and he's up against a guy who carries logs up stadium steps. He's also involved with an older woman, Carla, and learning that love and all that stuff is much harder than pinning an opponent. Ah, youth. --Keith Simanton What is it like to enter into the mind of a psychopathic killer, to experience his thoughts...and the thoughts of his victims during their last, terror-stricken moments? David Krane (Ray Liotta, Hannibal) is about to risk his sanity and his life to find out. From the acclaimed director of The Last Seduction comes this well-paced, stylish (The Washington Post) thriller that propelsyou into a hallucinatory realm of heart-stopping suspense that never lets up.Accused of murdering his wife years ago in a blind, alcoholic rage, Krane is desperate to clear his name and discover the identity of the real killer. When local researcher Martha Briggs (Linda Fiorentino, The Last Seduction, J! ade) unveils an experimental drug that allows the user to reli! ve the m emories of another person, living or dead, Krane sees his chance. Stealing a dose of the dangerously unstable compound, he injects himselfand embarks on a mind-bending quest for the truth that will plunge him into a realm of physical and psychic peril beyond his wildest nightmares.A string of insurmountable gaps in logic keeps this science fiction/thriller hybrid from director John Dahl (Joy Ride, The Last Seduction) from fully developing its intriguing premise. Ray Liotta stars as a medical examiner who is obsessed with finding his wife's killer. A possible solution is found in neurobiologist Linda Fiorentino's experimental serum, which transfers memories from one person to another--even from the deceased. Liotta injects himself with the serum, which allows him harrowing glimpses into other people's minds. But while each dose brings him closer to identifying the killer, it also puts him one step nearer to death. Dahl keeps the film moving briskly and wraps it ! in noirish photography, but he's let down by Bill Geddie's script, which asks viewers to swallow some implausible notions (the instantaneous success of the experimental serum, for one). --Paul GaitaThis is a truly exceptional item! A sexy stylish thriller stars Ray Liotta as Ford Cole a big-city district attorney with his eye on the mayor's office and a big problem on his hands. One of his deputies the beautiful assistant district attorney Nora Timmer has just confessed to killing a man in what she claims was self-defense. A bad situation gets worse when an enigmatic stranger named Luther Pinks turns up at the police station to contradict Nora's story and paint a very different picture of Ford's talented colleague. With his career and perhaps his life on the line Ford has a mere handful of hours to sort the truth from the lies in a saga involving Nora a record store clerk and a powerful gang lord. System Requirements:Running Time: 93 Mins.Format: DVD MOVIE Gen! re: ACTION/ADVENTURE/THRILLERS Rating: R UPC: 031398216711 Manufacturer No: 21671Fans of The Usual Suspects or The Departed should check out Slow Burn, a similarly twisty neo-noir starring Ray Liotta (Goodfellas). District Attorney Ford Cole (Liotta) finds his promising political career in danger when a dead body is discovered in the bed of his Assistant DA Nora Timmer (Jolene Blalock, Star Trek: Enterprise), who also happens to be Cole's lover. At first, it seems like a clear-cut case of self-defense, but then a video-store clerk with a strange sense of entitlement (James Todd Smith, better known as LL Cool J, Deep Blue Sea) suggests the killing is tied to an enigmatic criminal kingpin. From there, the plot defies summarizing: Conflicting stories are told in dimly lit interrogation rooms about mistaken identities, political machinations, lots of sex, and a wounded man unveiled by the light from a refrigerator. Everything hinge! s on real estate (a hint of Chinatown) and racial ident! ity (sma cking of Devil in a Blue Dress)--clearly, this movie is not afraid of flaunting its influences. All of these plot threads may not weave together seamlessly when the movie's over, but they catch your interest as it goes along. Slow Burn sometimes suffers from a needlessly slow pace (a few too many lingering shots of Liotta looking baffled or troubled), but the excellent cast--including Taye Diggs (How Stella Got Her Groove Back) as a jailbird with secrets, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Inside Man, Dirty Pretty Things) as a slippery journalist, and Mekhi Phifer (Dawn of the Dead) as the possibly innocent sap who ends up dead in Nora's bed--keeps the movie afloat. --Bret FetzerStudio: Starz/sphe Release Date: 03/04/2008 Rating: Pg13Set against the background of Africa's Emerald Coast and diamond mines, DIAMOND HUNTERS traces the torrid fortunes of a family unable to forgive and forget. Starship Troopers 3: Marauder explodes with mind-blowing man-on-bug combat! Col. Johnny Rico (Casper Van Dien) is back to lead his team on a secret mission to rescue a small crew of troopers stranded on the remote planet of OM-1. Battling bugs, both new and old, the new "Marauder" advanced weapons technology may be their only hope against a treasonous element operating within the Federation itself. As Captain Lola Beck (Jolene Blalock) and the rest of the starship crew fight to survive in the harsh conditions, it begins t! o dawn on them that something on OM-1 is very, very wrong. Thi! s time t he bugs have a secret weapon that could destroy humanity. Join the Mobile Infantry in this intergalactic action-packed adventure. Hewing closer to Paul Verhoeven's original and much-maligned Starship Troopers than the all-brawn-no-brains sequel, Hero of the Federation, Starship Troopers 3: Marauder blends high-power action with a dose of socio-political commentary in its story of gung-ho Marines versus insidious alien bugs. Ed Neumeier, who penned the Verhoeven film, is back as writer and director, as is Casper Van Dien as lantern-jawed hero Johnny Rico. Now a full-fledged colonel, he is dispatched to a planet where the military faces opposition from both the insect army and dissenting citizens. But after a trumped-up murder charge lands him on death row, Rico discovers that he's being sent on a secret mission to rescue a Sky Marshal (Stephen Anouke) who's gone missing deep in bug territory. Neumeier uses the well-worn military movie tropes to launch a s! atiric assault on all manner of current real world issues, from ultra-patriotism and military torture to religious fundamentalism and even pop culture as propaganda (Anouke's sky marshal is also a chart-topping singer). He lands a fair share of his jabs, and those that fall flat--Marnette Patterson's grating flight attendant--are tempered by sights like a ring of mechanical warrior 'bots forming an angelic halo. Unfortunately, said special effects are not particularly special, with the robots--the Marauders of the title--arriving far too late in the game. But with so many direct-to-DVD genre titles delivering little more than shoot-em-ups and CGI demonstrations, the tinge of black humor that runs through Starship Troopers 3 is appreciated. The disc includes two commentaries, one featuring Neumeier, Van Dien and Jolene Blalock (Enterprise), and the other with Neumeier and producer David Lancaster; a featurette on the new bugs on display in Troopers 3, as! well as interviews with the movie's soldiers, round out the e! xtra fea tures. --Paul GaitaFull color men's magazine featuring pictorials of Jolene Blalock, Kamila Brenkova, January Jones, and the Girls of Extreme Sports, plus features on Chris Kattan, blood sports, super sex, and much more! This is a beautiful reprint/preprint/reproduction of an original signed approx 5"x7" photo of Jolene Blalock.

So Blu

So Blu by Blu Cantrell

This product is manufactured on demand using CD-R recordable media. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply.

Blu Cantrell is tired. Tired of no-good, wrong-doin', sweet-talkin', always-cheatin', ever-schemin' men. Luckily for listeners, the Providence, Rhode Island native (discovered by Arista CEO Antonio "L.A." Reid) has decided to settle her scores in song. In the process, she delivers a gorgeously heartfelt soul album that manages to avoid no-scrubs, bills-bills-bills clichés, and get down to the business of broken-heart healing. Lacing scats into melismas and blues runs into R&B riffs, this torch-singing newcomer doesn't just take it to church with her debut: she takes it to the dimly lit juke joint, the crowded club, and the smoky underground cafe. Transitioning effortlessly from starry-eyed breathlessness to Eartha Kitt growl, ! to full-throttle, shiver-inducing wail, Cantrell incants catharsis with haunting ballads like "That One," in which she muses upon finding a soulmate, and "I'll Find a Way," on which she offers up a glorious, show-stopping vocal transition out of the song's bridge that would do Chaka Khan proud. Cantrell, the daughter of a jazz-singing mother, also manages to succeed with up-tempo numbers here--"Hit 'Em up Style (Oops)," the album's first single, is a jubilant revenge anthem, complete with an infectious, finger-wagging, Charleston riff that should have the ladies wiggling and their fellas checking themselves--and their wallets. --Sylvia W. Tell No One

  • TELL NO ONE (DVD MOVIE)
Oscar nominee Kristin Scott Thomas (I ve Loved You So Long, Four Weddings and a Funeral) delivers another acclaimed performance in the passionate drama Leaving. When stay-at-home mom Suzanne wants to return to work, her husband agrees to remodel a garage to serve as her office. Ivan, a sexy Spanish builder, enters their lives and changes them in ways no one could have expected.

Suzanne and Ivan are irresistibly drawn together by an erotic passion that threatens to destroy her marriage, her family and everything she holds dear. Her husband will stop at nothing to destroy her first. In this thrilling romance, everyone pays a price for happiness.Kristin Scott Thomas has transformed from the ice queen of British cinema to a woman of torrid passions in French films--and Leaving may be the most torrid yet. Suzanne (Thomas) leads a pleasant but stale upper midd! le-class life, with two teenage children (demanding and unappreciative, as all teenagers are) and a slightly pushy husband, Samuel (Yvan Attal, My Wife Is an Actress). She has a fling with a Spanish handyman named Ivan (Sergi López, Pan's Labyrinth) that, to her surprise, turns into an overwhelming passion. She can't bear to be without Ivan and decides to leave Samuel… a decision that slowly disintegrates her life. The strength of Leaving lies not in the plot, which holds no radical surprises, but in the vitality of Thomas's performance (particularly striking is a scene in which Suzanne, playfully bantering with Ivan, suddenly discovers she's in deeper emotional waters than she knew) and the cool eye writer-director Catherine Corsini casts over the events. The movie lures you into sympathy with Suzanne, yet there's always something a little unnerving about her, the sense that her mad love might have more madness than love. Thomas's career in France (! including Tell No One and I've Loved You So Long! ) has gi ven this superb actress a new life. --Bret FetzerJuliette Fontaine (Kristin Scott Thomas, Golden Globe® Nominee for I've Loved You So Long, Oscar® nominee for The English Patient) is a frail, haunted woman, an ex-doctor who's a shell of her former self. Having served 15 years in prison for an unspeakable crime, she's back on the "outside." With nowhere else to go, she comes to live with her loving but estranged sister Lea (Elsa Zylberstein). Together the sisters embark on a painful but redemptive journey back from life's darkest edge in this gripping drama of struggle and salvation.Kristin Scott Thomas is brilliant as Juliette, freed from prison after serving 15 years. Enigmatic, reserved, yet ready to re-enter life cautiously, Juliette moves in with her younger sister, Lea (Elsa Zylberstein), a literature professor, and the latter's husband Luc (Serge Hazanavicius), who worries about allowing Juliette into a home with two young children (related t! o the reason she was convicted in the first place). Also in the house is Juliette and Lea's father (Jean-Claude Arnaud), mute from illness. Writer-director Philippe Claudel slowly reveals details about the nature of Juliette's crime as she takes a job in a hospital records department and is wooed by a colleague. Other forces in Juliette's life--people asking questions, a visit to her dementia-suffering mother, tensions between her and Lea--slowly tease out the mystery behind her actions and takes viewers to a conclusion that adds an element of surprise but ties things up too tidily. Claudel cultivates an aura of naturalism and no-frills storytelling that allows dramatic developments and revelations to unfold easily. The film borders a bit on soap opera, but the grace and intelligence of Thomas' performance, offset by Zylberstein's more emotional work, is never less than compelling. --Tom Keogh

English SubtitlesBa! sed on the book by American author Harvey Coben, this French s! uspense thriller is one of those exhilarating word-of-mouth gems one can't to tell everyone about. Francois Cluzet stars as Alex, a pediatrician whose beloved wife, Margot (Marie-Josee Croze) was shockingly murdered eight years before. As the anniversary of her death approaches, Alex begins to receive cryptic emails and a video that seems to suggest that she is alive. The discovery of two long-buried bodies at the crime scene turn Alex into some kind of Hitchcockian Everyman, implicated in a crime he could not possibly have committed. But when he makes a mad dash from the police who visit him at his office, he seems to have signed his own confession. This synopsis doesn't even begin to hint at the genuinely exciting and surprising twists, turns, and revelations that await Alex in this Chinese box of a mystery. Brilliantly acted by an ensemble that includes Kristin Scott Thomas and French movie icon Jean Rochefort (Pardon Mon Affaire), Tell No One invites repeat viewing! s, the better to appreciate the intricacies of its plotting and construction. During breaks in productions from "7th Heaven", Beverley Mitchell frequently traveled to Nasville where she co-wrote and recorded songs for this debut album. From songs about standing up for what you believe in to bittersweet ballads about life and loss, this album has something for every country music fan.The image of Beverley Mitchell in a cowboy hat is going to take a little getting used to for WB viewers--as far-reaching a show as 7th Heaven is, it doesn't venture much into honky-tonk territory. But that's no reason for a country girl to keep quiet, as Mitchell makes abundantly clear in this old-fashioned and sweet-sounding debut. If there's a theme here, it's '70s-style straightforwar! dness and simplicity: "You Didn't Kiss Me," a sad rumination on a missing goodnight kiss, is as artfully achy as anything Tanya Tucker ever recorded, and "Walkin'," an upbeat number about emotional backsliding, also smacks of a sincerer decade gone by. Credit for the songs' relate-ability goes partially to Mitchell, who co-wrote half of them. But aside from the songwriters' talent for winding homesickness, heartsickness, hopefulness, and humility into pretty songs, there's something to be said for this lovely album's production--it's as crisp and clear as the deep-running creek Mitchell sings of on the opening track "Heaven on Earth down Here." --Tammy La GorceSpelling Entertainment and The WB will conclude 7th Heaven's historic 10-year run in May 2006. The inspirational music from the series has been captured for fans as Treadstone Records and Image Entertainment bring you the only soundtrack to the longest running family drama in television history! The debut o! f 7th Heaven launched The WB's first-ever Monday night broadc! ast on A ugust 26, 1996, at 8:00 p.m. Remarkably, the critically acclaimed series about a minister, his wife and their seven children has remained in that time slot ever since - holding its own against the 92 other series that have aired against it over the past 10 seasons. The compelling and unforgettable final season of the Camden family is now being seen by millions of viewers who helped grow this award-winning program into a huge hit. Now you can hear the music that inspired the show.During breaks in productions from "7th Heaven", Beverley Mitchell frequently traveled to Nasville where she co-wrote and recorded songs for this debut album. The Hot Spot is best known to lecherous film buffs for Jennifer Connelly's topless scene, but this sultry southern noir deserves more than prurient interest. It's arguably Dennis Hopper's best directorial effort (OK, so that's not saying much), and Charles Williams's source novel Hell Hath No Fury finds Hopper in a comfortable B-movie milieu, riffing on Double Indemnity with an overripe tale of sex, greed, and blackmail in an unnamed Texan town. Fresh from the final season of Miami Vice, Don Johnson stars as a shifty drifter, conning his way into a salesman job on a used-car lot, where the boss's insatiable wife (Virginia Madsen) offers him sexual favors and a lovely secretary's (Connelly) innocence is threatened by a percolatin! g scandal. Nobody's really innocent, of course, and Hopper spices this languid web of secrets with enough trashy misbehavior to qualify The Hot Spot as a bona fide guilty pleasure. --Jeff ShannonNo Description Available.
Genre: Feature Film-Comedy
Rating: PG13
Release Date: 2-SEP-2003
Media Type: DVDIf you're a lifetime member of the Jennifer Connelly fan club, you'll be in the passionate minority of people (100% male) who won't care that this 1991 comedy is wallowing in its own oily puddle of lameness. The gorgeous Ms. Connelly is conspicuously put on display in this typically lightweight fluff from writer-producer John Hughes. Frank Whaley does his best to liven up the male-fantasy plot about a semi-nerdy teen who gets a night-watchman job in a variety store, only to find himself locked in overnight with the local knockout (Connelly), who's as rich as she is beautiful. She's also really unhappy with her home lif! e and her bully boyfriend (Dermot Mulroney), so it's Frank's b! ig oppor tunity to make his move as a sympathetic Romeo. Shallow and contrived, the movie does have its standard moments of John Hughes delicacy, and a cameo by the late John Candy scores bonus points for comedy. Still, it's clear that the movie exists primarily to satisfy adolescent lust--and with Connelly as the object of desire, this otherwise tiresome comedy is a triumph of wish-fulfillment casting. --Jeff Shannon
